When my attention was first called to Christian Science I felt very unkindly toward it. I was prejudiced, and ridiculed it in general. It was my opinion at that time that any one claiming to be a Christian Scientist could not be well balanced mentally. When, however, in the latter part of June, 1909, our little son was taken ill with a fever, my wife decided to try Christian Science, after the medicine prescribed by our family physician had failed to benefit the child; so we took him to a practitioner, and in two treatments he was healed. Shortly afterward, Christian Science healed me instantaneously of rheumatism; and I have since been healed of stomach and bowel trouble of ten years' standing, a case of catarrh which had annoyed me for about twenty five years, also of a desire for strong drink and the tobacco habit. Besides this, my wife has been healed of nervousness and numerous minor ailments.
Some months ago I had the privilege of class instruction, which I value beyond expression. It came to me at a time when I needed the steadying and assurance which the teaching gave me. The Bible, which I was compelled to study during my boyhood days, had always been an enigma to me, but through the illumination which Christian Science brought to my thought, that sacred book has become to me a treasure house of good. While deeply grateful for the physical healing, the spiritual regeneration is to me of far greater importance.
