Christian Science has been of great help to me in many ways, but I will speak of one demonstration in particular. To ride on a street-car used to make me very dizzy, and in 1911 I fell from a moving car, striking the back of my head on the pavement. I was picked up and carried to a doctor's office. I have no memory of my fall or of what occurred at the doctor's office, but he said that I refused the medicine which he thought I needed to restore the heart action. I answered questions, and was finally taken home in an ambulance. My husband called a Christian Science practitioner, who came at once, and shortly afterward I recovered conciousness enough to know what was going on around me.
For several days, however, my case seemed alarming, so much so that one of my relatives, who was not a Christian Scientist, telephoned to the doctor and asked his opinion. He informed her that I would die if I did not have medical attention at once. We, however, continued with Christian Science treatment, knowing that God needed no help to perform His work. In about ten days I was up and around the house, and I have had no trouble with my head since. For this I am very grateful, and many times the thought comes to me of the way in which I was kept from taking the medicine and from being taken to a hospital.
We always find help when we try to keep our minds "filled with Truth and Love" (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 210). May this help some one else to realize the healing truth. — Stanley, Wis.
