The infallibility of Jesus' saying, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free," has many times been proven to me since the blessing of even a slight understanding of Christian Science has come to me through the study of the Bible in connection with our text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy.
At about fourteen years of age I became a member of an orthodox church, and for many years I endeavored to obey its every rule. During this time I was miserable both physically and mentally, and it was this which made me feel there must be something better intended for God's children than I had yet found. Consequently, being encouraged by the promise that I should find, I began seeking, that is, studying, first one belief and then another, with little or no satisfaction until about eight years ago, when Christian Science came into my life. At that time I thought there was no help for me in this world, but again it was proven that "man's extremity is God's opportunity," for on turning to this truth I was healed of the physical ills in three treatments. This surely meant much to me, but it cannot be compared to my gratitude for the joy, peace, and quietness which possessed my consciousness and has ever continued a daily benediction.
I wish to tell of the healing of a goiter in the case of a friend. This growth had been manifested for some time, and there was great fear of an operation. Two of the best physicians on this coast had been consulted and had prescribed for the patient, with no beneficial result. This caused a feeling of discouragement, so help in Christian Science was requested, and in about a month all evidence of the growth had disappeared. This healing took place two and a half years ago, and there is not the slightest indication of a return of the trouble. How can any one who, even in the slightest degree, understands this rarest of all blessings, fail to express his constant thankfulness to God that in His goodness He has again made known the healing truth through our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy!—Altadena, Cal.
