It is with a heart full of love to God, and also gratitude to Mrs. Eddy, that I give this testimony in acknowledgment of what Christian Science has done for me. In December, 1909, I had what was called blood-poisoning, which caused the loss of the index finger of my right hand. This left the hand in a badly crippled condition, and it was also very weak and painful most of the time; in fact, for the following two years I was hardly ever free from pain, and I saw that something must be done. I consulted a physician, who said that probably another operation would be beneficial. I decided to have the operation, but my wife strongly opposed it, and advised me to try Christian Science first. I called on a practitioner the next afternoon for treatment, and that night I had the first good night's rest in months. The hand grew stronger from day to day, and it has never been painful since that time.
I was also, for many years, in the habit of using intoxicating drinks to excess. I had tried to overcome this evil habit without avail, but after being treated for it in Christian Science the desire left me entirely, without any discomfort or bad effects. Besides this, I had a chronic bowel trouble for over thirty years, but it, too, has disappeared.
I think my healing has been very remarkable, as I had no faith whatever in Christian Science when I asked for help. It is my earnest desire to keep on learning more of this wonderful truth which has come to mankind as their greatest blessing.— Astoria, Ore.
