Christian Science has brought many blessings into our home, and has made us thankful beyond expression. Whenever we have asked for help, we have not asked in vain. Although in some cases physical ailments, for which treatment was asked, did not yield until patient and persistent work was done, in the end the healing was always accomplished.
One case of healing, however, which could be termed almost instantaneous, was accomplished for my husband in December, 1911, and it seemed truly wonderful. We were not then greatly interested in Christian Science, and the conditions seemed to be so very serious that a physician was called, who pronounced the ailment an alarming case of poisoning, with every symptom of lockjaw setting in. It is needless to say that great suffering was experienced, and for three days my husband was unable to open his mouth wide enough to allow a teaspoon to enter; in fact, he was unable to speak. One side of his face and neck was greatly discolored and very hard. The doctor said that during his many years of practice but one similar case had come under his observation, and it was only when he pronounced an operation absolutely necessary that my husband consented to try Christian Science. A practitioner was called in, and to our great joy, complete healing took place after four or five treatments. It was most wonderful to witness this dreadful condition give way to a normal state in what seemed a miraculously short time. The physician's surprise at seeing his patient a few days later in perfect health, when he had left him in such a serious condition, can well be imagined.
I myself have been cured of many ailments after materia medica had failed to help me, and our little son has been benefited many times. We now rely on the wonderful healing power of Truth altogether. The spiritual uplift which comes from the study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, is of far greater value to me than anything I could possess, and we are deeply grateful for all the good that Christian Science has brought us.— Milwaukee, Wis.
