From the October 1915 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is with deep gratitude that I give the following testimony of what Christian Science has done for me. While traveling over the country, going from place to place, I was subject to all the temptations that the world affords, and as a result I found myself in a very bad condition. I tried many remedies, but was unable to get relief, so turned to Christian Science. The practitioner was very kind to me; but I was a spiritualist at that time and would try to argue, even without reading what I was told to read, and at last concluded that Christian Science could do me no good. I then decided to go home, and after riding twenty-four hours without rest, arrived there, and stayed in bed for several days. I again tried materia medica for three months without much relief. Finally I wrote to a Christian Science practitioner in a near-by town, and on receiving an answer, I went to see her and had a long talk. This relieved my mind of so much worry that I placed my case in her hands. I began to improve at once, and in three months' time was able to take a trip on the road.

Many discordant conditions have been overcome in the three years that have passed, and I am indeed thankful to God for the many blessings received, also grateful to Mrs. Eddy, who was pure enough to give us this truth. I realize, as our Leader says in Science and Health (p. 3), that "gratitude is much more than a verbal expression of thanks," so will ever strive to keep in the straight and narrow way.—
