It has been six years since Christian Science...

From the December 1915 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It has been six years since Christian Science was offered to me by a friend with whom I was staying. I had lost all hope of ever being well again, but by studying our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and taking Christian Science treatment, I was a well, strong woman in three months.

Some time ago I had reason to be more grateful than ever, for God's protecting and loving care was so clearly demonstrated to me that I know He is a refuge in time of trouble. My husband and I were traveling over a rugged road through a mountain pass in an automobile. The road was narrow, and there was scarcely room to turn and manage a car around the sharp curves and up grade. The brakes became unmanageable and the car started to go backward. We were within a few feet of the bank, where the drop would have been several feet into a canyon stream, when in an instant we were saved from going over by the car turning on its side. No one was seriously hurt.

Though pinned down by the overturning of the car so I could not get out, and with the gasoline running over my clothes, I at once began to declare the allness of God, and He was then and there proved to be a present help, for a party that was traveling behind us helped us out of our seemingly critical condition. This shows that man does reflect God, good, at all times and in all places. In the most desolate places Love is with us, and when we walk "through the valley of the shadow of death," Love is there also.
