Testimonies of Healing

I want to express my gratitude...

From the August 1915 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I want to express my gratitude for the many blessings that have come to me through Christian Science; also for the understanding of this truth, which is an ever present help at all times and under all circumstances. Late one afternoon, when crossing a street where there is a great deal of travel, I was hit by a large automobile and thrown violently to the ground. I was on my feet immediately, before two gentlemen could get out of the car and come to me with a look of wonder, one asking, "Are you not hurt?" I said I was not. A few words of explanation followed, then again he asked, "Are you sure you are not hurt ?" and I declared I was not. Thereupon they drove away, and I walked four squares to my home, declaring the truth audibly and persistently.

Mrs. Eddy says that "under divine Providence there can be no accidents" (Science and Health, p. 424), and I knew, since this is true, that there could be no manifestation of an accident on my body. I also voiced my gratitude to our dear Father for encircling me in His everlasting arms, and entered my home happy and free. I attended the Wednesday evening meeting a little later without a feeling of inconvenience, and for this I was very grateful, as well as for the knowledge that this understanding is preventive as well as curative. By keeping our thought right, we are prepared to meet any emergency that may arise. This protection is only one of the many blessings received.

Thirteen years ago, before coming into Christian Science, I was in a very delicate condition, having had lung trouble for a number of years. My attending physician, doing what he thought was right, instilled a great fear into my consciousness. He forbade me to go out in the east winds or the rain, or to get my feet wet, and did not allow me to have a breath of fresh air all winter; in fact he made me a regular hothouse plant. My healing was slow, for I was strongly attached to my church, but in a year's time I had found in Christian Science a religion that was practical and true. As my thought changed, I was released from the bondage of so-called man-made laws to which I had been bound, and brought to the realization of God's law, the only law of life, health, and happiness, for which I am more than grateful.
