A few years ago, when there seemed to be very little to live for, owing to many discordant conditions in my home life, to say nothing of physical suffering, I was led through the loving thought of a friend to look into Christian Science. I have received many blessings through its healing power,—too many to mention. The greatest blessing, however, has been the sustaining power of Truth and Love when trials and temptations have presented themselves. Christian Science not only helps us to overcome, but it teaches us how to "stand porter at the door of thought" (Science and Health, p. 392), and so keep out of trouble; best of all, how to learn to know God, divine Love.
The discordant conditions in my home and domestic affairs have vanished, and I am experiencing every day the putting off of the "old man," —despondency, dissatisfaction, temper, self-will—and the putting on of the "new man" with hope, love, obedience, and humility. The harmonious condition becomes more evident as the days go by. I can bear witness to the efficacy of Truth to overcome all untoward conditions, in the proportion of our gratitude for blessings already received and the faithfulness with which we follow in the footsteps of the Master. I only pray that I may so live as to become a transparency for Truth, and be able to help many "weary wanderers, athirst in the desert" (Science and Health, p. 570) to drink of the living water.
I am thankful to God, for all the good I have I owe to Him, and grateful to Mrs. Eddy that she was pure enough to be the channel through which this wonderful truth, incorporated in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," was given to us. I am also thankful for the faithful and instructive work of The Christian Science Publishing Society.—Brooklyn, N. Y.
