Testimonies of Healing

Through the truth which our dear...

From the September 1915 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Through the truth which our dear Leader has explained, we find that Immanuel, or "God with us," is just as effective today as when Jesus trod the hills of Galilee nineteen centuries ago, and proved by demonstration that Truth alone makes man free from sin, disease, and death. Although I have not found the pathway of Science strewn with roses, I have known only peace and hope and joy.

When Christian Science found me, I was suffering from chronic bowel trouble which I had had since childhood, constant difficulty with my throat, rheumatism, headaches, and defective eyesight. In addition, I was nearly a wreck from nervousness, and consequently a pessimist and unhappy. After reading through the first chapter of Science and Health I was healed of it all. In three months' time I was one of the healthiest, happiest, and wealthiest of beings, for Christ, Truth, had appeared, and I had found the Comforter, which is divine Science. I am deeply thankful for the Bible, which when understood spiritually is a treasure-mine of healing truth. I am also grateful for all our literature. The first three verses of the third chapter of I John, with correlative passages as given in Science and Health (p. 468), fill me with loving thoughts for our dear Leader, whose teachings enable us to make these declarations practical. Her tender compassion for her fellow beings makes us glad even to touch the hem of Truth's garment.

Not only has my healing been complete, physically and mentally, but in the past two years I have been the channel for several beautiful demonstrations among my relatives and friends. This has proved to me conclusively that by carefully studying the Bible and our text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and following out the teachings of Christian Science in both the letter and the spirit, we may not only help others, but also reap in the way we have sown. Words do not express my gratitude; I can only try to live so that those who do not know this blessed truth will see the light.—
