I am happy to express my gratitude for the benefits which my family, including myself, have received through Christian Science. My grandmother had a stroke of paralysis whereby she lost the use of the right arm, and the physician said that the trouble would extend over the entire body. Moreover she was greatly troubled with an aggravated form of bowel disorder, which the remedies prescribed failed to relieve. At this juncture, that is in August, 1911, we heard of Christian Science, and although entirely ignorant of the subject, we asked a practitioner to call. She stayed with grandmother for two hours, telling her of God's goodness to His children and explaining the Bible according to the teachings of Mrs. Eddy, then gave her a treatment. As a result, grandmother was enabled to get up for a few moments on the same day. On the third day she could use her arm a little, and at the end of a few weeks she was completely healed.
This beautiful demonstration of divine power filled us with joy. The practitioner then advised us to buy Science and Health and study it; and I may say that with this book happiness came into our home, for with the "Key to the Scriptures" one is able to fight all error successfully. I would like to mention another instance of healing. Last year, in April, I had to leave my work, as I had contracted a severe cold with much coughing, and was laboring under a sense of general disability, which grew worse in the evening. My mother telephoned to a practitioner, who gave me absent treatment. On the third day I was able to take up my work again, and complete healing followed a few days later. I also had absent treatment for dental work which I was undergoing, and I experienced no pain whatever.
