In order partially to show my gratitude for the benefits received in Christian Science, I herewith give my testimony. I have been restored to a condition of health which I had supposed was impossible for me ever to enjoy. From childhood I had been a sufferer from chronic bowel and stomach troubles with many complications, the worst feature of which was severe headaches, which occurred on an average of twice a week. While not confined to my bed, I was practically a walking sick man all the time. I was unable to do justice to my work, was very despondent, and finally my condition became such that there seemed little ahead to live for.
About this time my wife asked me to try Christian Science. I had heard of this teaching and had known of friends being wonderfully helped by it, but had no idea that it would do me any good. I consented to try it, as everything had been tried that I knew of in a material way without any permanent relief. Artificial means to cause bowel movements were used at least two or three times a week and also a set of instruments every day, the last physician having prescribed these for me as he said there was a paralyzed condition of the bowels. After two treatments the bowel trouble was entirely relieved, and material means were dispensed with.
I felt much better in every way, and it seemed as though a millstone were taken from off my neck, but the headaches seemed to continue with even greater force at times, and for a while it did not occur to me to have treatment for this difficulty. Finally, a few months later, I commenced taking treatment for this trouble and for my general health. With every treatment wonderful improvement was manifested, until I was free from the fear caused by these terrible headaches and was in a position to know how to help myself when they tried to assert themselves.
