It is several years since I first turned to Christian Science for physical help, and I am indeed grateful for the understanding gained and the great benefits received through the study of the Bible, together with Mrs. Eddy's book "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." Doctors of good standing had not been able to give me the relief I sought, but said an operation of a serious nature would be necessary. Having small children I thought my husband had about all he could bear already, as he was worried about my condition, so I asked for Christian Science treatment. After four visits from a practitioner I was able to rise from bed and resume my usual duties. For this help and for the brighter outlook I now have on life, I am truly thankful. The children too are happier and have better health than they formerly had.
The physical healing has proved permanent, but it is for the great spiritual uplift that we are most grateful. My four children, ranging from eight to fourteen years, attend and take active part in the Christian Science Sunday school, and only those interested in the cause can realize how much this means in the home. For "every scalding tear," as Mrs. Eddy writes in her poem entitled "Mother's Evening Prayer" (Poems, p. 4), which my seeming physical suffering caused I am more than thankful, since it was only in my extremity that I turned to Christian Science for help. As I gained a better understanding of the true nature of God and of man in His image and likeness, the clouds began to disappear and the world seemed more bright.
