I send this testimony with thankfulness to God as the giver of all good, and with gratitude to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who through our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," has shown us the way.
Some fifteen years ago I was afflicted with what the physician termed gall-stones. On one occasion I had a most unusual attack, and the family physician called in consultation one of the most noted surgeons in the city, who came to the conclusion that an operation should be performed. My parents were very much opposed to the use of the knife, but left the decision to me, and I refused to be operated on. For three months I was confined to my bed, at times suffering the most excruciating pain, and for years afterward I was obliged to wear my clothing loose.
In the spring of 1914, when I was visiting a sister a few miles from my home, this trouble attacked me again. As I was then a Scientist, my relatives showed great kindness in immediately trying to get a Christian Science practitioner over the telephone for my assistance. They tried several times without any success, and therefore as soon as it was possible to get some one to assist in holding me up in the automobile, I was brought home. By that time the case was well developed. My mother called a practitioner, who came and stayed till eleven o'clock that night, and although the improvement seemed slow for a time, I soon, through God's goodness, was able to attend to my accustomed duties. My mother has had several beautiful experiences of God's power to heal, as has also a niece who makes her home with us, and for these blessings we are truly grateful. —Santa Ana, Cal.
