JOHN, the beloved disciple, tells us he heard a loud voice in heaven proclaiming, "Now is come salvation, . . . for the accuser ... is cast down." He discerned that the accusations of corporeal sense cannot alter the fact of ever-present, ever-available salvation. God's creation is the only creation, and it is not under condemnation. Material sense cannot perceive this one perfect spiritual creation, in which there is no evil of any kind; and Christian Science demands that every accusation which presumes to dispute the allness of God and the perfection of His creation shall be resisted and "cast down."
"But," the inquirer may say, "seeing that I am constantly doing wrong, surely I have no right to deny the statements of the accuser." To this Christian Science replies that it is only by repudiating the evidence of the physical senses, by denying that sin has any reality or power, that humanity can establish its freedom from sin. To plead guilty is to continue guilty. If we are at present aware of transgression, yet sincere in our desire to cease its indulgence, Christian Science is at hand to show us the scientific way of reformation.
To the beginner, however, it may seem too difficult and not altogether honest to disconnect evil from persons. Then let us make a scientific start by understanding that evil has no connection with God, or with His reflection, spiritual man. Furthermore, that the creator has not introduced sin or suffering into His creation, His reflected consciousness, nor yet sanctioned or made use of evil for any purpose whatever. Evil is always a mortally evolved belief, extraneous to Truth.
