Christian Science came to me at a time when early religious teaching had become empty and unreal and the Bible a closed book. In searching for some solution of the mystery of life I had become entangled in the mazes of the occult, and for the liberation from this thought, though very gradual, I can never feel sufficiently thankful. Physically I have been healed of a serious throat trouble, the work being done in a few weeks through treatment from a practitioner, though complete healing did not follow for some time.
Before I decided to turn to Christian Science for help, this complaint had been diagnosed by several well-known doctors, including a celebrated throat specialist. They agreed as to diagnosis but differed entirely about treatment and the prospects of a cure. I was under the specialist's care for some months, the result being only temporary improvement. Another of the doctors said an operation would certainly be necessary before long; but though it is several years since my healing in Christian Science there has been no further trouble.
Besides improving in health in other ways, I have been entirely freed from chronic anemia, and to a great extent from a tendency to frequent severe colds and attacks of influenza. Within the last year, when passing through deep waters, I experienced the wonderful sustaining power of divine Love and proved the unreality of material beliefs of sorrow and loss. Words cannot describe the help received at that time, mostly through reading Mrs. Eddy's writings.
