I have had many wonderful healings through the study of Christian Science. In September, 1914, I went to a practitioner and asked for help, as I had tried well-nigh everything that mortal man could invent but got no help. One of the doctors said he could help me if I had a broken arm or leg, but medicine would not relieve my nervous and despondent state. As soon as I took up the reading of Science and Health, a most wonderful peace of mind was experienced; but my healing at first came very slowly. After eight months I was taken with acute kidney trouble, and had help from another, with the result that in less than two days the swelling and the pain were gone—I was free.
It all seemed marvelous to me. Since then I have been healed of nervous indigestion. I could eat only very light food, and did not think I could digest anything without pain. Now I am eating everything I wish. Many other ailments have left me,—fallen arches, headaches, paralysis of the bowels, and fallen intestine. I am able to do many things which I never thought would be possible for me; indeed I have had many proofs of the protecting power of divine Love. Once when my hand was badly scalded, for a few moments there was a little fear, but by declaring the truth the hand was perfectly healed in half an hour. Hate seemed the hardest evil to overcome, but it has yielded to the right understanding of Love.
If I had not had these many difficulties to meet, perhaps I never should have known this demonstrable truth. Now I am trying to live it each day, and I find it can be applied to all our daily needs. It has taught me to see the good in everything—to be sure of God's tender care every minute, to know we do not have to travel to find Him. I am learning to love the Bible, especially the New Testament. Christian Science has changed my way of thinking, and I pray each day to be freed from faultfinding, deceit, hypocrisy; in fact, to get away from self and to see God's creation as it is—perfect. I am indeed grateful for a right understanding of the Bible, which gives to mortals a demonstrable knowledge of the truth.—Riverside, Cal.
