It is with the deepest gratitude that I write this testimony of the wonderful benefits received from Christian Science. Several years ago I was suffering very much from nervousness, caused, it was said, by a long and trying illness. I had had two serious operations, but in spite of the constant care of the doctors the pain was almost always with me; added to that I could not sleep, so that I gradually became quite hopeless. A friend asked me one day if I had ever heard of Christian Science, and I am afraid I only scoffed at the idea of having anything to do with it. However, I seemed to get worse and worse, so in desperation asked my friend to tell me of a practitioner. From the day I asked for treatment I have never looked back. I had a great deal of prejudice to get rid of, but that has disappeared, also a terrible sense of fear, which at one time seemed as if it would never be overcome.
Quite apart from the physical healing, I am most grateful for the happiness and peace which Christian Science has brought into my home and life, and I know I shall be led to reflect more love and peace to all around me. I understand now what our Leader means when she says, "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings" (Science and Health, Pref., p. vii). One cannot feel grateful enough to Mrs. Eddy for the great discovery she was led to make and to give to the world.
