As a student of Christian Science I feel very grateful for all the blessings that have come to me through the application, as far as I understand it, of the Principle taught in our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. Before taking up the study of Christian Science we had almost continual sickness and sorrow in our home, and I then believed that God sent all our troubles for some wise purpose. I would often say in the words of an old hymn, "Sometime we'll understand," but I did not know there was any way for me to understand on this earth. When I found Christian Science I learned that God is not the author of sickness and death any more than He is of sin, and this truth brought happiness and peace. I also learned that our heavenly Father is a God of love and not of wrath, and with the revelator can say, "And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: ... for the former things are passed away."
On page 390 of Science and Health Mrs. Eddy tells us: "It is our ignorance of God, the divine Principle, which produces apparent discord, and the right understanding of Him restores harmony." It is for this understanding of God as divine Principle, and of man's relation to Him, which I am gaining each day from the study of the Lesson-Sermons and all the Christian Science literature, that I am most grateful.
"The Life of Mary Baker Eddy," by Sibyl Wilbur, was very helpful to me in correcting many misconceptions of this noble woman, whose pure thought enabled her to become the channel through which primitive Christianity was brought to our age and the promises of the Bible were made applicable to our everyday problems.—Spokane, Wash.
