This testimony is sent with a heart...

From the December 1917 issue of The Christian Science Journal

This testimony is sent with a heart full of gratitude to God for all His blessings. I also realize what we owe to Mrs. Eddy for her earnest, loving work and life, which revealed the truth of Christian Science to us in such a practical way. Fifteen months ago a daughter was born to me under Christian Science treatment. The practitioner and nurse did not arrive in time for the birth, but such a sense of peace and calmness came to me that I was able to cling steadfastly to the truth and to realize that harmony is the law of God. Practically no pain was experienced, and I felt quite able to get up afterward. This was a great awakening to me, as nine years previous I had given birth to a son under medical treatment, and the conditions were so discordant that a well-known London surgeon advised me never to have another child.

Since studying Christian Science, during the past six years I have proved that God can do what man cannot do and that "perfect love casteth out fear." When my husband and I first began the study of Christian Science we were going through great trouble and did not know which way to turn for help, but this healing truth has brought great joy and happiness into our lives. It has taught us that having the "mind of Christ" means having a right state of consciousness or right thinking, and that as a man "thinketh in his heart, so is he;" therefore when wrong conditions come up, it is because we have failed by not thinking rightly. I have been healed of bowel disorder and liver complaint, which had troubled me for many years and for which medicine was taken constantly. My daughter is a bright and merry little person; she has cut her teeth quite harmoniously, and of course Truth has been her only physician.

I want to express my gratitude for the help received from Christian Science friends, who are so lovingly helping me on my journey. I am indeed grateful for Christian Science.—
