I am deeply grateful for the blessed truth revealed to me through the study of Christian Science. In 1913, when I had been interested in Christian Science only a few months, three of my children were healed of measles after a few treatments. The following year I passed through the experience of childbirth under Christian Science treatment and attended by a Science nurse. I was up and around the fifth day, feeling better than I did in three weeks after the other experiences.
At this period my husband, who was facing bankruptcy, through worry became ill and a month later passed on. Looking back on this great trial, I know it was only the truth which sustained me. After his affairs were straightened out there was not a penny left for the children (the eldest of whom was six years old) and myself. Jesus, however, said, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." This I did, trusting in God, and it has been proven to me that "divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health, p. 494). All my needs have been met, mentally, physically, and financially.
The baby had an attack of acute lung trouble and his life was despaired of. I was not conscious of any fear but felt in need of help, so telephoned to a Christian Science practitioner, and the child was healed. After this healing he and the youngest girl were taken down with a severe case of whooping-cough, the baby having several convulsions. Again I appealed to a practitioner for help. The little girl began to improve at once and the baby is now strong and healthy. For all these proofs of God's care I am indeed grateful, and I look only to Him for help. I have felt the supporting power of divine Love, being able to keep going all day with frequently little rest at night.
