I desire to give my testimony of healing in Christian Science, that it may be read by others who perhaps are facing something of the same conditions. For years I had been frail and my stomach had caused me keen suffering. Very little of the small amount of food I attempted to eat was retained. Added to this I suffered severly at regular periods, and the abdominal organs were said by several noted physicians and surgeons to be badly displaced. It was then discovered I was likely to become a mother, although the physician treating me scarcely believed this to be possible. He referred me to a prominent specialist, who said conditions were so serious, owing among other things to adhesions and an abnormal growth, that if I did not submit to an operation within two or three weeks, he would not answer for the consequences. Such an operation would undoubtedly have canceled all hope of a child coming into my life, and having passed through an operation some years previously I felt unwilling to submit to another. I left the surgeon knowing that he had nothing to offer me, but in my heart feeling sure there was help from a higher source.
For some time I had been interested in Christian Science, and was under a physician's care only because of the earnest desire of many members of my family. My extremity, however, proved to be God's opportunity, for I turned absolutely to Science for help. Conditions were wonderfully changed, so that when a physician examined me later he found them normal, and we now have a fine, healthy boy. I cannot say there was not much seeming suffering during the months before the baby came, but I did receive great help whenever the practitioner treated me, and was able to be up and around most of the time, which I feel sure could not have been but for Christian Science.
Each day I read and study, and try to realize more truly the allness of God, good, and the nothingness of human error. I wish to express my gratitude for Christian Science and to Mrs. Eddy for showing suffering humanity how to live nearer the Christ-life and to reflect God more truly in daily living.—Chicago, Ill.
