Each day adds to my sense of gratitude for the understanding I have of Christian Science, and realizing that the truest way to express this gratitude is to give to others that which has been given to me, I am offering this testimony of a perfect and complete healing of acute lung trouble in four days.
On Tuesday, January 2, 1917, at about eleven o'clock in the morning, I was seized with a hard chill. Having been a nurse before I came into Christian Science, I recognized the symptoms which rapidly developed, and in describing them afterward to a physician, my diagnosis was confirmed. After several hours' work I found myself unable to get a clear realization of the truth, so called a practitioner. By the time she reached my bedside I was in a semiconscious condition from intense pain and high temperature, and all typical symptoms of acute lung trouble followed in sequential order. A short while after the practitioner began treatment, a sense of peace came over me, and I seemed almost to hear the voice of the Christ saying to me, "Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." The comfort of that moment is indescribable. Thursday the fever and pain ceased entirely; Friday the last typical symptom of the disease disappeared, and I was healed. On Sunday I went to church, and later in the day enjoyed an auto ride; thus in less than a week I was able to resume my daily activities.
There was no return of symptoms, and since then I have been singularly free from colds and all similar ailments. I live in a "family hotel," and at the time there were only two students of Christian Science among the guests. My experience and healing were such indisputable proof of the power of Christian Science to heal, that it has proved to be indeed as a light in the darkness.— Shreveport, La.
