I am profoundly grateful for the health, peace, and happiness which have come to me through Christian Science. When I began its study, physical healing was not expected. I was seeking spiritual help and understanding, and I have experienced both the healing and the regenerating power of this wonderful truth. For over three years I had suffered very much from what is called sciatic neuritis and rheumatism. Spinal treatment in a nursing home in 1913, and at a spa in 1914, had only resulted in temporarily improved health. Fatigue or changes of weather invariably caused a return of the pain, while drugging and strict dieting were absolutely necessary in order to do my work. I suffered greatly from depression and irritability, while at times a sense of despondency became almost unbearable, for there seemed nothing ahead but invalidism.
After reading Mrs. Eddy's book "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and attending several testimony meetings, I was led to ask for treatment. In less than three weeks I was completely healed, and never since have I taken drugs of any kind or feared to eat anything that was set before me. I have been able to resume the teaching of physical exercises, and running, skipping, and jumping now cause no discomfort. My general health has marvelously improved, and words fail to express the joy which this freedom from pain, irritability, and depression has brought. I have been healed of influenza, a burn on the hand, and nasal trouble of many years' standing, for which doctors had advised an operation; also of very great fear and anxiety for the safety of my husband when officially reported wounded and in a hospital. This message was a mistake, but for the comfort and peace which Christian Science treatment helped me to experience during the time the message was believed to be true, I am indeed grateful.
It is, however, for spiritual help that gratitude is most deeply felt. The daily study of the Bible, together with Science and Health and the other Christian Science literature, is bringing a clearer understanding of the power of Truth to destroy fear, and to uplift thought to know the nothingness of evil and the ever presence and omnipotence of God, good. —Clifton, Bristol, England.
