Through Christian Science I have received that for which I vainly sought fifteen years in medical science. I was suffering from what the doctors pronounced an incurable disease of the stomach. For many years I had taken medicine, and finally my heart was said to be affected. It seemed as if there were few days left to me in this world.
One Saturday night, while I was wondering if there was not a cure for me somewhere, the words of a lady spoken to a friend years ago came to me, "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health, p. 494). The next morning I went to a Christian Science church, and that afternoon had my first treatment. I also received a lesson that started me to thinking and led me to search for the truth. The practitioner said: "God is the preserver of man. We have only to learn to know Him and reflect Him in our everyday life. Then all the blessings that we could wish for are received." Even before I understood this I was healed of the stomach disease with only a few treatments. The tobacco habit, of which I had tried many times to break myself, was also overcome. The heart trouble remained for some time, but as I proceeded in my study of the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," I gained in spiritual understanding and was healed. I found that "material beliefs must be expelled to make room for spiritual understanding," as Mrs. Eddy tells us on page 346 of the textbook.
I am indeed grateful for all the benefits which I have received through Christian Science, not for the physical help alone, but above all for the spiritual uplift that has come to me. It is my prayer that this great message of Truth may lead all to the living waters.—Everett, Wash.
