From the October 1919 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I have long desired to express my gratitude for Christian Science, and not being at present located where there is a society, I have not the privilege of voicing my thankfulness at the Wednesday evening testimony meetings.

During the so-called epidemic of influenza, although my three children and I were seemingly attacked by the disease, with the help of a practitioner we came through safely. My children were ill only a few days and my own case was met within a few hours. I awakened one night, shortly after retiring, with every symptom and to mortal sense with so much fever that it seemed for a little time that fear would conquer. The fact that I was away from my husband and other loved ones seemed to add to the sense of fear, but in a few moments I grasped the situation as a testing time and at once knew that God, divine Love, is always with us and cares for His own. Then words of the ninety-first psalm came to me and I fell asleep, to awaken some hours later with no sense of discomfort or pain. The next morning I arose and ministered to my children. Some of the material symptoms tried to manifest themselves for a few days but I earnestly declared that God is our strength, and there were no bad after effects for any of us.

I am thankful for all the physical help received, but more so for "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, which has indeed proved to be for me a key unlocking the Scriptures. I am grateful for the Sunday school, which my little ones have had the privilege of attending, and for its teachers and officers, who so lovingly are helping to lead our lambkins into the knowledge of this beautiful truth.—
