About fifteen years ago, when I became interested in Christian Science, I was attacked with inflammatory rheumatism. After trying for nearly a week to help myself with the little I knew of this teaching, I went to see a practitioner, as the condition was getting worse, and in one treatment was instantaneously healed. Through the reading of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures'' by our revered Leader, I have since been healed of very severe headaches which used to last for several days, and of many other ills. Glasses have been laid aside after having been worn for nearly twenty-four years.
About two years ago I got a needle into the joint of one of my fingers and it broke off. I took out a half of it, and did not know any more was left in. Four weeks later I awoke one night in intense suffering. I tried all night to overcome the sense of pain but did not get relief, so the next morning I went to see a practitioner and was instantly relieved of all suffering. That night I slept well and the next morning the needle came out. To mortal sense the infection was so deeply rooted that the bone was decayed and came out at the same time. I mention this because what seemed impossible in surgery transpired in my case: the bone has grown again, and the finger, including the nail, is perfect. The hand and arm were swollen and discolored, but there was no pain after the first treatment. Those who saw the finger thought I would lose my arm, but the truth counteracted all that, proving that there is one Lawmaker.
Such evidence of the power and presence of God brought with it gratitude not easily described, but profoundly felt.—New York, N.Y.
