About fourteen years ago I became interested in Christian Science. I have been healed of the liquor habit, the use of profane language and many other habits that usually go with the liquor habit. I have also been healed of an affection of the lungs and bronchial tubes. I could not sleep at night, and wore a flannel chest protector from early fall until late in the spring. I had broken arches and walked with great pain. It was about one year before I was healed of the broken arches. About two years later I had occasion to purchase a pair of shoes, and the salesman in one of our leading shoe stores advised me to take a pair of shoes with a built-in steel arch as I was a heavy man, weighing two hundred and fifty pounds. I told him I did not need them and had worn them before when my arches were broken down. He then examined my foot and said he had never seen so strong and high an arch for so heavy a man, and said, "May I ask just how you were healed?" I told him I was entirely healed by reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."
About three years ago I was examined for the purpose of increasing my life insurance. I had a thorough examination and asked the doctor what he found wrong with me. He said, "Not one thing; every organ in your body is in perfect condition." For several years I was subject to what is known as ivy poisoning. Nearly every summer my hands and face would be poisoned until they were covered with small scars. They are now smooth and the scars have entirely disappeared.
