It is with a deep sense of gratitude for all that Christian Science has done for me that I am sending this testimony. About six years ago I had what the doctors termed a nervous breakdown. After having had various treatments I was taken from the city to the country, and a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" was lent to me. I studied it in connection with the Bible for several months, and it appealed to me as being very beautiful and absolutely true. For some time, however, I did not seem able to put into practice the little understanding I had, as I felt it was my duty to cling to many material methods. I am learning daily the truth that, as Mrs. Eddy says (Science and Health, p. 452), "When outgrowing the old, you should not fear to put on the new."
I have been healed of nervousness, fear, and a sense of limitation, and have no desire to return to material methods of healing. My husband and nine-year-old son enjoy studying the daily Lesson-Sermon with me, and all the Christian Science periodicals are a source of inspiration and instruction to us. I will mention one of my son's healings. Last summer while playing with some children he jumped on three rusty nails which were protruding from a board. He was barefoot and they went into his heel so far he was unable to pull them out. The mother of one of the other children did this and he was able to walk home. I immediately treated him as best I could and he became quiet and in a few minutes asked to read Science and Health. Next morning, as there was a little fear manifested, I telegraphed a practitioner in Chicago for treatment for him, and in a very short time the healing was complete. This is but one of many proofs of God's loving care, for all of which we are very grateful. We are earnestly striving to know more of God, good.— Arcadia, Neb.
