Christian Science was brought to my notice at a time when I truly seemed to be without hope or God. In this extremity I reached out for anything that might afford relief. I had tried all materia medica had to offer, even submitting to a surgical operation as a last resort, but "was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse." A year and a half prior to my taking up the study of Christian Science, a friend wrote me about it and asked me to try it; but I had not run the gamut of materiality at this time, and did not seem ready for this great revelation. Instead I took up hygienic treatments, and when these failed I turned to Christian Science. In the first hour's reading of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, I was healed of a complication of bowel and stomach trouble which materia medica had failed to cure. With this healing every desire for reliance upon material means for healing disappeared, which to me seemed the greatest of all blessings. Since that time, very nearly twelve years ago, Christian Science has been a constant source of joy to me. I find that no matter what problem comes up to be solved, full reliance upon divine Principle always brings the perfect solution. To live to demonstrate this Science is the only sure way I can express my gratitude to God, to Christ Jesus the Way-shower, and to our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy.— St. Paul, Minn.
I wish to verify the testimony of my wife, Magdalena Coffers, in regard to her healing through reading the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. She was healed of rheumatism, bowel trouble, and other ailments by studying the textbook, and the healings were permanent.
I also wish to add my healing through Christian Science of rheumatism from which I suffered for over twenty years, after trying all kinds of material remedies, including electric appliances. I also wish to state that I have been injured several times, by falling off the top of cars, getting struck by switch levers, getting my right hand mashed, and breaking the bone of my index finger. I was healed of all these injuries through Christian Science.
