For several years I was a semi-invalid, and during a period of four years did not have a natural movement of the bowels. I had almost constant headaches with frequent severe attacks which lasted two or three days. These attacks were becoming more frequent and there was great fear of their recurrence. Not only did I dread the pain, but the feeling of uselessness to others and inability to cope with the situation was most distressing.
After a change of residence a dear friend and neighbor suggested that I read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I knew nothing about Christian Science but was willing to try anything. I had loved the Bible and studied it all my life. After reading Science and Health a very short time God appeared in a new light. His relation to His creation was revealed as so entirely different from anything that I had previously conceived that I knew I could rely entirely upon Him for healing. As soon as this conviction was reached I stopped taking medicine and rejoiced to see the ills completely disappear. A new world opened up to me. I had never known such freedom; this lasted for several months. I read and studied alone, attending services whenever possible. Then claims such as I had never known presented themselves. Willingly, patiently, a practitioner helped me. Many phases of error came to the surface. The wilderness seemed very large, so large that it could not have been crossed without divine Love as guide. I now know that error appears only to disappear. I am so grateful for the lessons learned and for the freedom gained through absolute reliance on God.— Fort Myer Heights, Va.
