I have received so much help from reading the testimonies in the Sentinels and Journals that I want to send mine, hoping it will benefit others as I have been benefited. I did not take up the study of Christian Science for physical healing. I was seeking peace of mind and happiness when Christian Science was presented to me.
The first time I heard of Christian Science it was being ridiculed and I became very much interested in what was being said about the way the Christian Scientists prayed. It was stated by one of the parties that Christian Scientists did not ask God for anything; they just believed God had made all things good, and they just thanked God that everything was here. Although it was being told in ridicule I wondered if it could be true, and I remember on retiring that night I tried to pray the way they said the Christian Scientists prayed, and I know that prayer was what led me to find God.
When quite a young girl I had had a sorrow that left me very unhappy and restless, always seeking happiness in some material thing, but always being disappointed, never finding it. At the time Christian Science was presented to me in the right way I was at the place where there was nothing left to live for, and an intense dread of the future was always with me. One of my friends gave me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, telling me if I would read and study it I would find the help I needed, so with a desire to find God and happiness I started to read. That was ten years ago and I am so thankful to say I did indeed find God, and when I found Him I found a peace and happiness no amount of material gain could give—the happiness that comes from a right understanding of God. I also found that as I gained a better understanding of God I was constantly being lifted into better conditions. I found perfect health, which I had never had before; better business opportunities were presented to me; living became a new thing to me.
