I wish I could tell of all the good things that Christian Science has done for me and also for the others of our family. Our son, now twenty-four years of age, has not tasted medicine since he was a baby, and when he took the physical examination for service in the army he was pronounced one hundred per cent perfect, excepting his teeth, which needed a little attention.
The first healing that I really acknowledged to be due to Christian Science, was of very severe headaches which had lasted every day for over two weeks. Then a chronic bowel disorder yielded, without any particular treatment other than my changed thought, as did fear, which is always so depressing. There is also another healing which has been permanent. A cough which had troubled me since childhood and which was very severe every winter so that sometimes I could hardly lie down at night, has been overcome and now I hardly know what it means to have a cold, and never cough.
We have all had healings innumerable, but I wish to speak of one which seems more wonderful to me than any other I have experienced. I had what seemed to be hereditary heart trouble which had lasted many years and which was my "thorn in the flesh." I was unable to walk even a short distance without severe pain and palpitation. I had always rather shrunk from asking for treatment, but finally did so in the summer of 1916 and received some help, and about six weeks later in the fall I was entirely free. This gave me hope that I could be free always, and this last autumn (1918) I suddenly awoke to the fact that I could walk briskly nearly a mile, do hard work, and run upstairs with no ill effects.—Almena, Kan.
