Testimonies of Healing

It is with deep gratitude for Christian Science...

From the July 1920 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is with deep gratitude for Christian Science that I am sending in my testimony that it may help others as others have helped me. Two years ago I took up the study of Christian Science, not because I cared so much for it, as I had heard about it since I was a little girl, and never thought there was any good in it; but I also had been sick since a little girl,—never strong like other children,—and after I grew up was never strong or well, and was growing worse all the time. At the time I started to study Christian Science I had seen such a beautiful healing of a friend of mine that I thought if she could be healed I did not see why I could not. I got a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" and started to read, and not finding anything very interesting in it laid it aside; but as I had tried doctors so much and never got much help I thought I would try and read some more, and in a short time my eyes were healed. I had worn glasses for fifteen years and three doctors told me I would always have to wear them. It is now almost two years since I laid them off and I have never had to put them on again and I can read more and do more fine work now without them than I could when I was wearing them.

I also was healed of a stomach trouble that I had had for years and another sickness that had bothered me for fourteen years, but with the faithful help of a practitioner it was all overcome. I was subject to severe headache and it took me quite a while to overcome that, but it made me study so much harder, and I became more interested the more I read, and I am so thankful for all the healings for myself and family. The children have had several healings. Our little girl seemed, to mortal sense, very sick and had a high fever. I telephoned to a practitioner for help and all pain left her; the next day I noticed she was yellow, both her eyes and body, and it was yellow jaundice she had, but she suffered no more pain. After a couple of weeks the oldest boy manifested the same disease, but I applied the truth to the best of my understanding; he did not lose one day from school. I am thankful for all the physical healing we have had but I am much more thankful for the spiritual uplift — to know that the truth makes men free, that Christian Science is a religion of love, and nothing but good results from the study of it. It meets all human needs if we only apply it rightly. To know God, and that He is Love takes away all fear. I am thankful to God and to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for showing us the way and also thankful for the Lesson-Sermons, and for the Sentinel, which is such a help to me. —
