It is with gratitude I send my testimony...

From the July 1920 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is with gratitude I send my testimony in the hope that it may encourage any one whose healing may be slow.

About the year 1903 I became ill and an inmate of a hospital, where I underwent an operation for what was diagnosed as abscess of the loin; later on, an operation was performed at home for a diseased rib. But the wounds caused by the operations did not heal and pieces of bone came away at intervals, and my wife dressed my wounds daily. The doctor then suggested a third operation, to which I would not consent, and I did not see him again until the year 1911. By this time the doctor feared that the disease was too far advanced for an operation to be successful, though he gave me a card of admission to a hospital for this purpose. Just previous to this, Christian Science had been presented to me by a lady who had been healed of a tumor, and she advised me to try it. I called upon a practitioner in the autumn of 1911, who started treatment for me at once. This was on a Thursday, and the following Monday I started work again, and the healing began. For about two years I had regular treatment, and I attended the Christian Science services regularly which were held then in the district. Afterwards I received occasional help and visits from the practitioner, during which time pieces of diseased bone came away, the deep incisions filled up, and the wounds closed. The complete healing took place in November, 1919, after a period of eight years. Our hearts are full of gratitude for the life work of that dear woman, Mrs. Eddy, whose teaching made such healing possible for us.—

I gladly corroborate my husband's testimony, and wish to say that my son is also a student of Christian Science and it has been a great help to him during the war, when in great danger at the front.—
