Testimonies of Healing

It is with sincere and heartfelt...

From the July 1920 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is with sincere and heartfelt gratitude that I send this testimony of what Christian Science has done for me. When it came to me about seven years ago, I was physically ill, and mentally despondent and discouraged. I had suffered for weeks with an infection in my right arm, which, according to the attending physicians, threatened the loss of one or two fingers, and possibly the hand. Then one day a kind neighbor brought in an armful of books to help pass the time away, and among the collection was one which referred to Christian Science. It held my interest to such an extent that I immediately sent to the library for the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and began an earnest study to find out what this religion is. I had never even seen one of the periodicals or attended the Christian Science church, and had never been especially interested when I had occasionally heard of some wonderful healing.

I did not seek it for its healing power, even though I was sorely in need; but I was so attracted to this beautiful teaching that after reading the first chapter I knew I had found the truth. Great, was my astonishment and that of my family, as well as of the doctor, when after only a few days of study I was completely healed, and not only of that trouble but of other ailments that had been with me for years—such as stomach and bowel complaint, nervousness, weak eyes, and sick headaches; all these errors gradually disappeared, and life became a joy to me. I have also overcome, in a great measure, a quick temper and other faults of disposition and am learning to let infinite Mind govern not only myself, but also my home and work, knowing that divine intelligence is ours. I am so thankful for this great truth and the many blessings that have come to me through Christian Science. I am grateful for our periodicals, which are indeed daily bread. I am also grateful for our reading rooms, where I have spent many happy hours, and to our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who has made all this possible for us. —
