Testimonies of Healing

I feel that I must at this time add...

From the August 1920 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I feel that I must at this time add my testimony to that of thousands of others who have been healed through the power of Truth. Less than two years ago I took up the study of Christian Science in an earnest search for health, and have ever found God's help at hand. My first demonstration was practically instantaneous. I had been to our summer home, and was in the lake bathing almost every day. Near the end of the season it was discovered that one of the large hotels on our shore had been allowing a refuse pipe to drain into the water, polluting the bathing beaches, which were closed by the authorities, allowing no more swimming for the year. Shortly after this my hair began to fall out, and fear seized me. Being new in the study of Science I turned to all material remedies at hand, but to no purpose; finally I said, mentally, "This is God's opportunity." I laid aside everything I had been using, and endeavored to forget everything but God. In two weeks' time, or thereabouts, I discovered short, thick hair all over my head, and it continued to grow rapidly.

Another healing was also instantaneous. Being left alone in the house, I attempted to put up a pair of curtains. While on the top of a five-foot ladder, I fell over to the floor, bending my knee under me. As I fell an expression I never use was uttered, "My God!" It brought me to my senses, as fear seized me and I immediately declared the truth. I was afraid to get up at first for I thought my leg was broken, but arose, still holding fast to the allness of God. I walked without effort, but the argument crept in that "sometimes such things manifest themselves four or five hours after they occur." Then the truth again asserted its power. I walked down two flights of stairs, got dinner, and did up the work. After dinner my husband took me for a drive, and having some business to attend to he left me in a picture show. As I came out, just four hours after, I could hardly walk home, the pain was so intense. I did so, however, a distance of six blocks, went to bed, and tried to read the newspaper but could not for the pain, so took up Science and Health, and in half an hour I was fast asleep and have never been troubled since. Burns, colds, et cetera, have been overcome. Words cannot express my gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for her untiring efforts for the spiritual uplift of mankind.—
