Testimonies of Healing

This testimony is an expression of...

From the August 1920 issue of The Christian Science Journal

This testimony is an expression of gratitude for benefits received in Christian Science. For four years I was in bondage to a belief in tropical bowel complaint. During this time I suffered a great deal and grew extremely thin. I was always on a strict diet and was terrified to eat anything. I was treated by six different medical men, of good repute in their service. Each had a different treatment, and each did his best to cure me. All my friends were of the opinion that I was not acclimatized and must leave India and return to England; but this was made almost impossible by the war and the submarine campaign, and would most certainly have meant a prolonged separation from my husband.

Driven by these circumstances, and in spite of a strong prejudice against what we thought to be Christian Science, my husband and I turned to God in our extremity, and, with the loving help of a Christian Scientist, I was cured in two months, and except for one attack of dysentery have been perfectly well and strong ever since. This later attack was cured in one treatment. My first healing brought both my husband and myself into Science and we have received many benefits, both for ourselves and for our little girl; also for our various animal pets. My little girl was cured of a sharp attack of influenza, which affected her eyes especially, but left no after effects. For this and all our many blessings we are full of gratitude to our heavenly Father and it is our earnest desire to progress and to help others to the truth as we are being helped.

At first we did not fully acknowledge the fact that Science cured me and were full of doubts and fears of a recurrence, but we now clearly see and acknowledge that it was the truth that made me free and thank our heavenly Father for this demonstration of perfect harmony. We are also full of gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for her inspired writings and for all our literature, which is the greatest help to us in our journey from materiality to spirituality.
