I wish to express my gratitude for the many blessings I have had in Christian Science. I have been healed of neuralgia, infection of a finger, a nasal growth, influenza, nervousness, and worry. My disposition too has changed. Where resentment seemed to be, now is compassion. While I was using a fine steel crochet hook it became lodged in the fleshy part of my hand which continued getting more painful. I asked my niece to pull it out but the effort only caused more pain and seemed to lodge the hook more deeply in the flesh. She spoke of having a physician come, and, on hearing that, I immediately thought that I must use what I understood of Christian Science. All I could think was, "God is the only power." I seemed to be losing consciousness as all seemed black around me, but I kept on declaring this truth, and very soon the hook dropped from where it was lodged.
Christian Science is not only a curative, which is always present and applicable, but is a preventive also. Not long ago I had occasion to prove that the belief of contagion is not power, while I was under quarantine and caring for others suffering from a serious infectious disease which seemed fatal. As each suggestion presented itself it was speedily eliminated or effaced by replacing the false testimony of the carnal or human mind with spiritual ideas. This work of replacing meant so much to me when erroneous suggestions of fear presented themselves, and I was wholly protected from contagion. My prayer is to live my life so as to be worthy of the name "Christian Scientist." I am especially grateful for all the Christian Science literature, which has healing on every page.—San Andreas, California.
