It is with deep gratitude that I testify to the help I am daily receiving through the study of Christian Science. I used to suffer from a violent temper and extreme irritability, but to a very great extent this condition has been overcome, and in its place I am learning to manifest love and gentleness. I have been completely healed of neuritis. The healing was slow, and at times I wondered whether I should ever be healed, but a practitioner very lovingly and patiently helped me to realize that in the kingdom of God there is only harmony and right thinking, and that man, the idea of God, could only express that which is perfect and good. The whole condition changed and I have not had a return of the trouble. This was several years ago.
Some two years ago I had a very severe motor accident when two friends and I were traveling from the station one night. One of my friends wished to get out at her home on the way up, and thinking, from a remark made, that we had reached her destination, I got up to open the door while traveling at a fairly good speed, and was flung with great force into the roadway. I was taken into my friend's house and for five days was in a semiconscious condition. Christian Science treatment was immediately given and after a week I was enabled to get up for a short time each day; at the end of two weeks I went back to my lodgings and returned to work just a little over three weeks from the time the accident happened. I can never express what a wonderful realization of the power of God came to me, and it was proved to me that it is absolutely the only power there is. I was relating the accident to a doctor some time afterwards, and he said that the most extraordinary thing was that I escaped death, and added that a blow such as I received would under material medicine have meant several weeks of quiet and rest in a darkened room. I know that reliance on Principle is the only thing that will help us in whatever seeming difficulties we may be placed.
Words cannot express the help that Christian Science is to me in my business life. It has entirely changed my concept of what business means. In place of the old thought that business meant only a commercial undertaking I am trying to realize that all the business there is is the Father's business, and I know that that thought honestly put into practice will not only bless and help me but others as well. For the Christian Science literature, especially The Christian Science Monitor, I am very grateful; it has been a real source of supply and has helped me to see through, and to overcome, many difficult problems. To the kind practitioners who have helped me to see the truth more clearly, for the privilege of church membership, and for all the blessings which have come and are coming to me daily since beginning the study of Christian Science I am indeed grateful.— London, England.
