It is with gratitude to God and deep appreciation of Mrs. Eddy that I add my testimony of benefits received through Christian Science. Both the results of accident and disease in my experience have yielded to the truth. The explosion of an iron receptacle containing red-hot chemicals occurred within two feet of my face. The concussion, which broke the windows in the little building where I was working, broke the drum of my left ear, and the hot chemicals inflicted severe burns wherever they touched my flesh, even burning the woodwork where the chemicals came in contact with it. Hot crystals of the fused mixture were deposited on my eyelids and eyeballs, burning themselves in so as to cover the pupil and obscure the vision of one eye. An oculist was employed to remove the solidified crystals from the eye, and a Christian Science practitioner was called to take charge of the case. In response to her work, the terrible pain in my eyes ceased as suddenly as a silenced voice. In good time the injured eardrum was healed and hearing returned. Contrary to the oculist's predictions, I soon was able to look again upon a beautiful world, whose images were as clear to me as they had ever been before.
In the case of influenza a practitioner was called. His work seemed unmarked for a time by any abatement of the increasing pulse and fever, until finally, when I lifted my own thought to the realization of the truth that he was helping me to see, the unnatural conditions suddenly began to subside. On the following day I was about the house, and in two or three days more my lungs had cleared and I was out. Many such proofs have come to me of the power of divine Love, and I am most grateful to the practitioners who have helped me and to Mrs. Eddy for bringing to the comprehension of mankind the Word which Jesus taught.— Hancock, New York.
