Having received so many benefits from reading the testimonies in the Sentinel and Journal I should like to take this opportunity of expressing at least a portion of my gratitude. Several years ago I was given proof of the statement that "man's extremity is God's opportunity." For over twelve years I had not known what it was to feel really well. Among the many others, the most serious of my afflictions was an intense pain in my head, which at first occurred only every few weeks but toward the last every few days and it would be of several days' duration. The physicians had quite often administered two and sometimes three hypodermics of morphine without even easing the pain. I tried every remedy I heard of in addition to the different schools of medicine and was finally told it was due to a clot of blood on the brain and that medicine was useless. I was gradually losing my memory, and could only see the worst ahead of me. I had given up all hope of ever being well and only took up Christian Science to learn more of God. I attended the services and many of the Wednesday evening meetings and heard the testimonies, but some way never thought it could help me. When the next attack came I went to the telephone and called a practitioner and asked her for help. She treated me and in half an hour I was entirely healed and the healing has been permanent. I have never had a return of this trouble.
Our little boy was healed of ulcers on his leg. We were very young in Science and of course watched it very closely, the practitioner worked for almost a week with seemingly no result other than that the condition appeared to be getting worse. We stopped the treatments and took him to a physician, but it still continued to get worse. We then went back to Christian Science, and as soon as the fear which we held over him was destroyed the leg immediately began to get better, and perfect healing followed. Each day we are given proofs of God's allness and ever presence. We have had numerous healings, both physical and financial. I have also been healed of sorrow. Before becoming interested in Christian Science I had thought the one thing I never could do was to give up my mother or father. About a year ago I had to do so, and I can truly say I was able to demonstrate the truth of Mrs. Eddy's words found on page 584 of Science and Health: "Any material evidence of death is false, for it contradicts the spiritual facts of being."
I am grateful for what Christian Science has brought into my life and for what it is unfolding to me each day but as Mrs. Eddy says: "Action expresses more gratitude than speech" (Science and Health, p. 3). I can only express my desire in the words of one of Mrs. Eddy's hymns (Hymnal, No. 198):—
