I am a living witness to the demonstrable truth of Mrs. Eddy's statement: "Christian Science is always the most skilful surgeon, but surgery is the branch of its healing which will be last acknowledged" (Science and Health, p. 402). I was born with abnormally large tonsils and an elongated palate which I was supposed to have inherited from my father, who suffered so much from the same condition that he submitted to three surgical operations for relief. The picture of his experience was early impressed upon my thought and I suffered accordingly from this physical condition and the fear of operations, which I was told would be necessary.
About this time several members of our family became interested in Christian Science. Two relatives, who were pronounced incurable by the medical profession, were perfectly restored to health through Christian Science treatment. This remarkable proof of healing threw a new light on the Scriptures, which were held sacred in our home. I do not recall any treatment being given for my condition. The study of Science and Health was begun and a joyful awakening to the Bible promises and their possible fulfillment to-day followed. Soon after this I began to have less fear and less trouble with my throat and in a comparatively short time these organs became perfectly normal in size. Although more than twenty years have passed since this healing I have had no further trouble with my throat.
Again, I desire to bear testimony to the healing value of the statements of Truth in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Through many years chronic and acute problems and ailments have been met solved, and cured, often instantaneously, by quietly listening to the statements of Truth as they speak to the receptive thought from this invaluable textbook.—Boston, Massachusetts.
