Testimonies of Healing

It is an old and true saying, that...

From the December 1921 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is an old and true saying, that "procrastination is the thief of time." Several months ago the thought came to me: "Why don't you give your fellow men the benefit of your experience in the healing of rheumatism through Christian Science?" It is many years ago that my wife became acquainted with a few ladies who belonged to the Christian Science church and one of them loaned her a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, which she read. Not long afterwards I noticed that she could eat anything she wanted. She had sometime before taken a notion that she could not eat strawberries or baked beans. The doctor had told her that it was the acid of the little innocent strawberry that acted as a poison in her stomach, but she has been eating them ever since. This was our first cause for gratitude for Christian Science. I think it was soon after that I began to be troubled with rheumatism, principally in my back, and not yet having much faith in Christian Science I used the old remedies in trying to effect a cure, which included almost everything I had ever heard of as a rheumatic remedy, but with only temporary relief. I was growing worse all the time, and could not get into a comfortable position on account of the pain in my back and had to give up my work.

This was my extremity and God's opportunity. With difficulty I went to a practitioner and had a long talk with her. The first treatment relieved the pain, and in two or three days I was completely healed of rheumatism. I like to call this my first lesson in Christian Science. But this is only one healing that I have received; another was of a severe bowel trouble, and another of a very bad cold and cough. I have had many colds in my life but none quite so bad as that one. Christian Science heals every ill when applied understanding'. according to Mrs. Eddy's instructions, and meets all our needs if we practice it in sincerity and in truth, which is the best way of showing our gratitude for it.—,
