That God is a very present help in time of trouble was demonstrated one day when I offered to assist a friend in removing a mattress which lay across a table and a chair. It was evidently too heavy for my friend to lift, and fell out of her hands, and the table with the weight of the mattress fell across my instep. For a moment the pain was so intense I forgot everything until my friend suggested getting some liniment with which to bathe my foot. I then realized God's protecting care, and told her I had a better remedy than liniment. In a short time my foot was greatly swollen and so painful I could not put it to the floor. I managed to go upstairs that evening by resting my knee on the steps, and when I retired realized that I had not done my mental work, which I immediately did, and in a short time the pain was gone and I could move my toes freely. I then knew that I was healed, and experienced joy and "the peace of God, which passeth all understanding." I fully realized that in our extremity all we have to do is to know the truth. The next day I wore the boot I had on when the accident occurred and walked with only a slight limp. My friend said, "I am glad to see you so well. I thought yesterday if you got over your accident easily I would never doubt Christian Science."
I am grateful for this and many other blessings received and hope this testimony may help some one as I have been helped and strengthened many times by reading the testimonies which appear in our periodicals.
