Having so much to be thankful for since coming into a knowledge of the truth that makes us free. I think it is about time to express thanks and gratitude through our periodicals. Five years ago a friend asked me to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy to settle an argument as to why my prayers (I was a member of a denominational church) would not have the same effect as the prayer of a Christian Scientist. I soon realized something of the truth of spiritual being and the difference between the prayer of petition and the prayer of affirmation as taught in our textbook, and being in need of physical healing, I was ready and thirsty for the cup of cold water. I immediately ordered all the Christian Science literature, and as the result of the study of Christian Science I am a well woman to-day, and I am so grateful to God for His guidance and healing.
My father was a physician and there were two other doctors in the family, and I had seemed to be bound by material laws. My first healing was of hay fever. A physician had prescribed golf for nervous indigestion, but a specialist who was called said the golf playing must stop, as the smell of new mown hay around the golf links caused hay fever. Christian Science came to my rescue and healed me of hay fever, thereby settling the conflicting opinions of doctors. Several minor healings have been experienced, such as of burns, cuts, and bruises. I am most grateful for the spiritual understanding and uplift, and for Mrs. Eddy's gift to mankind, which is again making practical the teachings of Christ Jesus and bringing to mankind the realization of the ever presence of God.—(Mrs.)Jackson, Tennessee.
