On page 3 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy writes: "Gratitude is much more than a verbal expression of thanks. Action expresses more gratitude than speech." I wish to express my gratitude by testifying to some of the blessings received through Christian Science, hoping the testimony will help some one as I have been helped by those of others.
I should like to tell of the healing of one of my babies, which was the means of others coming to the truth, lie was scalded from his knee down, with boiling gravy. I was in my mother's home at the time, with no one near who was interested in Christian Science, and the way seemed dark. I was one hundred miles away from a practitioner, and relatives insisted on having a doctor, who was attending another member of the family, prescribe for the baby. I consented and allowed medical treatment to continue for a week, at the end of which time he was suffering from erysipelas in a very severe form, and I was advised by a physician to take him to the hospital immediately, although he did not give me any hope for his recovery. I told him I would let him know in the morning, and I took baby to my rooms. It did seem as though the end was near, when a lady, hearing that I wished to have a practitioner, came in and gave me the address of one who lived one hundred miles away, and volunteered to care for the baby while I telephoned for Christian Science treatment. This lady was not a student of Christian Science but said she had seen so much good healing done she was glad to help me communicate with a practitioner. I called the practitioner Friday night and on Saturday morning baby was healed and was sitting up in bed playing. Every occupant of the house came up to see the child. They called me foolish the night before, but they could say nothing when they saw the child restored to perfect health.
Space will not permit my telling of all the healing that has been experienced in the family, but I hope to express gratitude in actions for what God has done and is doing for me and mine through the teaching of the Bible as illumined by Mary Baker Eddy in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."—Rawlins, Wyoming.
