It is with a feeling of duty, as well as pleasure, that I testify to the healing power of divine Love in Christian Science. For over thirty years I had been a sufferer from asthma, brought on supposedly by a catarrhal condition. The last twenty-five years of this time, my case was of the chronic type, not spasmodic. It was a twenty-four hours a day, three hundred and sixty-five days a year affair with me. I tried every remedy I ever heard of, or saw advertised, but gradually grew worse. The only thing that kept me going at all was a medicine I inhaled through the use of an atomizer. This atomizer was my constant companion. I was never without it, day or night. From the spring of 1916 to the spring of 1918, I also tried the much heralded serum treatment. The same old story,—at the end of this time my condition was worse than before.
I had reached the stage, by this time, that whenever an extra attack came on (and these attacks were coming on with ever increasing frequency") my only course for relief was a hypodermic injection. The effect of the drugs was as bad, if not worse, than the asthma. In this condition, I applied to a Christian Science practitioner for treatment, in the fall of 1918. In a very short time I noticed an improvement in my condition. This improvement continued, and ultimated in my complete healing.
I have since become affiliated with a branch church, also with The Mother Church; and at the present time, am a substitute teacher in the Christian Science Sunday School. Mere words are inadequate to express my gratitude to divine Love; to Mary Baker Eddy, who gave us our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures;" and to the practitioner who so lovingly brought me from misery to peace and comfort. For the past three and a half years, Christian Science has been the only remedy in my family; and we have had many demonstrations of the power of Truth.— Davenport, Iowa.
