PURITY

From the November 1922 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance." Matt. 9: 13.

"And at even,...they brought unto him all that were diseased, and them that were possessed with devils....And he healed many." Mark 1: 32-34.

Dear trembling heart, think not for thee to walk
Where sin holds sway, can soil thy robe, God-given.
Think not to love thy fellow-men, or talk
With their sad hearts, can bar thy road to heaven!

Lifting thine eyes to Love, walk without fear,
Light amidst darkness, pure amidst the mire.
Guide by thy gentleness the repentant tear;
Courageous stand in the consuming fire.

This is thy task, given by Love divine,
Who knows nor sin nor death nor any strife.
So shall thy face, increasing lovely, shine,
And thou walk spotless in the robes of Life.
