Before I knew anything about...

From the March 1922 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Before I knew anything about Christian Science I was very antagonistic toward it; but the day came when I was glad to turn to it for help, and I have never ceased to be grateful that such was the case.

It is just five years ago that my daughter, then ten years old, was pronounced to have a very much enlarged heart and bad leakage, and was put to bed to stay there for three months. She was not to go back to school for at least a year, and then would never be able to run or jump, or exert or excite herself in any way whatever, for one run might mean her death. I was simply stunned. She stood this for one week and then rebelled—not only refused to stay in bed, but would take no medicine nor speak to the doctors. It was then she was asked if she would take up Christian Science; in fact, there was no alternative. The name of a practitioner was asked for and given, and the study of Christian Science started, and the work was so effective that when school began in the fall my daughter was there, and in the past five years she has missed not more than three days. She has never missed any gymnasium classes, and skates, and does everything any normal girl does; and added to this, the dreadful bilious attacks she had been subject to almost all her life have been entirely overcome.

We have had many other demonstrations, proving that divine Mind is the only power, and we thank God daily for learning to know Him aright, and are grateful to Mrs. Eddy for rediscovering Jesus' teachings, and giving them to the world in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."—
